This week we commemorate the life and legacy of my late husband, drummer/composer Max Roach with this encore presentation of The Dreamer, The Drummer, The Struggle.  The show is timed to honor two birthdays:  Dr. Martin Luther King (b. January 15) and Max (b. January 8). In tribute to Dr. King's vision, courage, gift of hope, and leadership: a performance of “The Dream” -- a duet composed for solo drum by Max Roach with Dr. King's historic "I Have a Dream" speech at the March on Washington.  The show also features selections from Max' masterwork WE INSIST: The Freedom NOW Suite.  Our two special guests worked with Max and called him friend: stage director George Ferencz and musician Brother Ah--to whose memories the rebroadcast of this show is dedicated. I'm so grateful to have enjoyed their friendship.
